They play this game where one of them is happily settled at the very very top of a tree, then the other one swoops in from way up high (or from over the water) and takes their spot. As if there wasn't a WHOLE TREE to sit in!
I have learned to differentiate them; that's Papa sitting nicely. I know because his beak is a significanlty different shape (mama's face is prettier) and his shoulders are narrower. He's more of a rectangle and she's more of a square. Of course she's bigger but you can only tell that when they're close together.
This time mama is the bully and displaces papa from his happy seat. After this shot she just sat there gleefully while papa settled himself at the very very top of another tree nearby
Another shot showing the colours of the underside of their wings and the plump, healthy body. Pretty good for something that eats lots of fish from the polluted harbour every day!
