I'm pretty sure this is the next day, but it's the exact same spot. I was less than 10 meters away from this Great Blue Heron, and in the space of five minutes it calmly caught and ate at least four fish. I have many, many picture of the Heron, but they don't match the eagles in glory (in my opinion; I call everything else "lesser birds") so I'm just showiing a small sampling here.
I wanted to show the interaction of humans and nature; each drawn to this place for their own reasons, and each allowing the other to go about their business undisturbed. That's the edge of West Vancouver in the background, just before the ferry terminal and the highway bends to become the Sea-to-Sky on the way to Whistler. I just managed to capture Lighthouse Park (quite by luck), and I think that's a ferry behind the one guy's head.
