This is earlier the same day, I think. It's on the same roll so it's the same weekend for sure. As I was walking to the sand bar I was trying to capture a group of Heron that kept moving off every time I got close enough for a good picture. I turned around and saw this eagle landing. It was quite a bit away and moving so quickly I just thought, "What the hell is that?" so quickly snapped a shot. I was pretty surprised when I got my prints back, I can tell you!

Now I am at the sand bar, actually I had moved significantly closer to Spanish Banks West beach to try to capture some of the buzz of activity. The forest of the Pacific Spirit Regional Park is in the background, with the second last concession stand below it. The house is one of the last in Vancouver-proper I think (just west of Blanca St.), before it becomes the enclave of the University Endowment Lands with it's estates and mansions. The same fish that attract the Heron and all manner of seagulls also bring the eagles.

By now I was so exhilerated from the whole experience I was just taking pictures of everything I saw. It ended up being three rolls of 36 exposure film over that weekend. I'm just showing a selection here otherwise my site would be another 50 pages!
